CISS stands for Consumer Injury Surveillance System. Under Article 8 (Prevention of danger and injury), Article 51 Clause 1.1 and Article 52(Collection and handling of information on dangers and injuries) of the Framework Act on Consumers and Article 39(Designation and operation, etc. of organizations submitting information on dangers and injuries) of the Enforcement decree of the same Act, the system collects, analyzes and evaluates injury information submitted by organizations including 62 hospitals, 18 fire stations, the consumer counseling center (www.ccn.go.kr, contact number 1372) and the hotline (080-900-3500) across the nation. It is a 24/7 monitoring system to ensure that necessary measures can be taken for injury information collected after they are analyzed and evaluated.
